165. Rachel PRILLAMAN. Born on 19 Jul 1808 in Franklin County, Virginia. Rachel died in Franklin County, Virginia on 15 Mar 1885; she was 76. .

This deed made this 3rd day of October 1868, between James A. Pyrtle and Elizabeth S. Pyrtle, his wife, of the county of Henry and state of Virginia of the first, and Charles W. davis of the county and state aforesaid, of the other part witnesseth, that for and in consideration of the sum of $400 to them in hand paid by the said Charles W. Davis, at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the said James A. Pyrtle and Elizabeth S. Pyrtle doth grant unto the said Charles W. Davis, a certain tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the county of Henry and State of virginia, on the waters of Sour creek, and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning on the north by RACHEL DYER, on the west by James R. Smith, on the south by Constance Martin and Chas. W. Davis, on the east by Thos. K. Turner to the beginning, containing 120 acres more or less, which the said james A. Pyrtle and Elizabeth S. Pyrtle, his wife, doth warrant and ever defend the right and title to the said tract of land to said Chas. W. Davis, free from the claims of themselves or any other persons whomsoever. witness the following signatures and seals.

After Joseph died in Christian Co., KY, Rachel returned
to Franklin Co. with her 4 children (Raleigh W. was the oldest ~14) and settled
near Town Creek. The 1850 census shows that her brother William Prillaman was
living with her and the deed records at Rocky Mount show that in 1854 she
purchased 350 acres of land for $750.

On 2 Sep 1826 when Rachel was 18, she married Joseph DYER, son of James DYER (1779-1846) & Sarah Ann FORTUNE (1779-), in Franklin County, Virginia. surety John Prillaman. Born on 16 Nov 1802 in Franklin County, Virginia. Joseph died in Christian Co. KY on 9 Nov 1841; he was 38.

167. Ruth PRILLAMAN. Born on 23 Dec 1813. Ruth died on 5 Oct 1884; she was 70. Resided in Log House now owned by Dr. Harry Lee King, Jr.

On 28 Nov 1832 when Ruth was 18, she married Stephen TURNER, son of Capt. George Wilson TURNER (17 Oct 1776-13 Aug 1854) & Mildred STONE (3 Mar 1780-6 Mar 1864), in Franklin County, Virginia. surety John Prillaman. Born on 6 Sep 1806. Stephen died on 30 Mar 1889; he was 82.

168. David PRILLAMAN. Born on 26 Aug 1818. David died on 20 May 1876; he was 57. Buried in Marshall Prillaman Farm, Henry, Virginia. Occupation: farmer. . . .

Called "Big Dave". Had dark hair, blue eyes, fair complexion and was 6 feet, 2 inches tall.7 Enlisted in the Confederate Infantry on April 17, 1862 in Norfolk, Virginia as a Private at the age of 44. Discharged on the 24th of May 1862.
Appears on page 146, Franklin County Census of 1850, age 26 in the household with his parents.

On 8 Jan 1856 when David was 37, he married Mary F. LESUEUR, daughter of James W. LESUEUR (15 Oct 1798-31 May 1871) & Rebecca GOODYKOONTZ (abt 1803-25 Dec 1891). Born on 5 Mar 1827. Mary F. died on 15 Nov 1893; she was 66.

Appears on page 146, Franklin County Census of 1850, age 22, in the household with parents.
